Welcome to the Karuizawa Weekend Program! At EtonHouse, we believe that the natural environment has a tremendous impact on children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development, and we strongly believe that children should play more in nature. In this English program, children learn to create freely, communicate, collaborate, work together, and sometimes even take risks with their teachers in the natural environment of our Karuizawa campus. Come spend a meaningful weekend in the beautiful nature of Karuizawa.

Bushcraft Activities
Through outdoor activities, children will learn to develop their creativity and take risks and challenges by using tools and experiencing bushcraft. This program will include activities such as fire making, wood craft, crafts using natural materials, and printing. In addition, participants will make wood crafts in the “make-a-space area” (studio/workshop) using hammers, files, drills, etc.

Cooking Activities
Cooking activities help children think well, hone their problem-solving skills, and enhance their creativity. They also learn various math and science concepts. Use the large kitchen area to have the children make cookies, muffins, pizza, soup, etc. and become chefs for a day.

Gardening
Using a large garden space, children will learn how vegetables are grown and harvested through hands-on experience, from sowing seeds to growing and harvesting vegetables.
